Summer Eldemire is a filmmaker, writer, content creator & creative director based between Jamaica and Los Angeles.
She’s created content campaigns for brands such as the Rockhouse Hotel, Skylark Hotel & Sandals. She writes, directs, creative directs and stars as talent. She also copy writes for brand’s websites, newsletters, social media, travel guides and more.
She’s directed and produced short-form content for the BBC, PBS and worked with award winning production company Lightbox Inc on documentaries for Hulu, Netflix, Showtime, Nat Geo and HBO Max.
Her written work has appeared in Guernica, Pree Caribbean Literary Magazine the Face Magazine, Complex UK, BBC, The Intercept, Al Jazeera, Stranger’s Guide and Sole DxB. She was long listed for the 2024 Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
She has created (directed, acted, and written) several short films including the web series Highly Favored, The Donut Space Odyssey commissioned by Public Art’s Organization Active Cultures, and her most recent Paradise, a queer Caribbean romance.
Her written work delves into Caribbean mysticism, memory, and the spaces in between worlds. She’s drawn to stories about identity, family, and the idea of paradise. She is currently working on her first novel.
She has a BFA in Painting and a MA in Creative Non-Fiction both from NYU and has work experience at Vanity Fair, The Daily Beast and the New York Times Syndicate.
